The German-American Institute Nuremberg

Welcome to the DAI!

The Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institut Nuremberg: A little piece of America in the heart of Franconia! For more than 60 years, we have been the place to go to find out anything you want to know about America - for everyone in the metropolitan region of Nuremberg. As a bi-national institute, we are a meeting place for Germans and Americans of all ages. Through our events, we inform you about American history, current US politics and cultural life in the USA and bring some of the "American Way of Life" to Nürnberg.

We offer:

  • A public library of (almost exclusively) English-language materials (for more information, click here) 
  • VISA information - for example, ESTA - the new electronic travel registration system which is part of the 'Visa Waiver Program' (https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov, if you need help to register please stop by during our opening hours)
  • Language courses for young and old with experienced native speakers (for more information, click here)
  • Special programs for children and young people - for example, photo projects, workshops, creative writing competitions, the Battle of the Books (for more information, click here)
  • Answers for those seeking practical training, an Au-Pair year or wanting to study in the USA / Education USA (for more information, click here)
  • Concerts, readings, lectures, exhibits and more - from and with American artists. You'll find the latest happenings each month in our monthly program (To download the monthly program, click here)
  • Celebrate! We celebrate American holidays - such as Independence Day, Halloween or Thanksgiving - as they should be celebrated, together with other German-American groups (For monthly highlights of the programs of German-American groups and contact information, click here)
  • Outreach programs: for events in schools around the region we offer high-ranking speakers and artists
  • as a part of our cultural program we work with many partners in Nürnberg: the Jazzstudio Nürnberg, Stadtbibliothek Nürnberg, KUF im Südpunkt, the Gostner Hoftheater, the Bildungszentrum Nürnberg, just to name a few.
