Morning Conversation Group
Different topics relating to American culture will be discussed in a small group. Practice Your English Courses
This course will give you the opportunity to improve your ability to communicate and your listening comprehension in a small group (a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 participants).Topics covered will be chosen by the participants of the course and unless special areas are involved will require no preparation. Participants should read an English language publication, i.e.International Herald Tribune, Wall Street Journal or The Economist (all available in the DAI library). Articles from these can be the basis of discussion.
After the ten weekly sessions you should be able to talk and understand others with increased confidence.

English Language Course for Advanced Students
The purpose of the course is to refresh already acquired language ability, to activate passive vocabulary and to get practice in conversing on themes which may be useful in one's profession and in general situations. Practice texts will stress current economic and political themes. Participants should have the equivalent of seven years of school English.

Let's Talk- Conversation for Young People
We'll meet twice a month to discuss topics of interest including music, movies, environment, politics, sports, different life styles in English-speaking countries and any subjects you suggest. We'll concentrate on speaking, but we'll read or listen to short texts to get the ball rolling.

Sing-a-long Songs: Kids Music Group
"...head and shoulders knees and toes, knees and toes..."
Komm mit auf eine musikalische Reise durch die Welt der Musik, Sprache und Bewegung. Build a House, Jump like a Kangaroo or Fly in an Aeroplane. Come and join the fun.
In diesem Kurs stellt Ben van Haeff (Creative Kidz) children's songs vor, die einen spielerischen Umgang mit der englischen Sprache ermöglichen. Als native speaker und songwriter für Kinder verfügt Ben über eine breite Palette von eigenen als auch traditionellen Liedern, die den ersten Kontakt mit einer fremden Sprache spielerisch ermöglichen. Singend, spielend und tanzend sind sie somit in der Lage, die "Musik" der Sprache" aufzunehmen.
Dieser Kurs ist ein Mitmachprogramm für Kinder (4-7 Jahre) und ihre Eltern.

TOEIC Preparation Course
The TOEIC test is a two-hour-multiple-choice test that consists of 200 questions divided into a Listining and a Reading section. The TOEIC test questions are based on real-life work settings in an international enveronment (meetings, travel, telephone etc.). In this Preparation Course you will learn TOEIC test strategies while enhancing your English listening comprehension, reading and grammar skills. The Preparation Course is designed entirely to help students achieve high TOEIC scores.

TOEIC-(Test of English for International Communication) Language-Test
The Test of English for International Communication is an English language proficiency test for people whose native language is not English. It measures the everyday English skills of people working in an international environment. The scores indicate how well people can communicate in English with others in business, commerce and industry. The test does not require specialized knowledge or vocabulary beyond that of a person who uses English in everyday work activities.

English for the Office (zweitägiger Workshop)
Sounds good on the phone! Intensive practice of the language you need to make different kinds of calls: making contact, exchanging information, making arrangements, responding to requests or dealing with problems. In this course we will practise useful phrases and reacting spontaneously. We will also cover the "rules" of e-mail/letter writing in English. The course will prepare you with practical tips, useful phrases and vocabulary, formal and informal correspondence as well as finding the right tone.

We will practise the basic travel situations and work on vocabulary so that you will feel more confident on your next trip anywhere in the world.

Job Application Workshop (zweitägiger Workshop)
What makes a good job application? What structure should you use for your CV? What differences are there if you send your application by e-mail? Today the competition in the job market is enormous and in this seminar we will explore how to "sell" yourself by looking at different ways of writing job applications/CV's/Resumes as well as cover letters to introduce yourself. Practicing for job interviews in English will also be covered, helping you to become more confident in choosing your own direction! If you already have a CV, bring it with you or just start from scratch!

Dial an American- School Session
If you want to get you pupils involved in an English conversation and dialogue with a native speaker you just have to dial the number of the German-American Institute! Norman Goldberg has been teaching English Conversation at German Universities and the GAI since 1998. He will talk to your students about a bit of everything in everyday life in an informal class session.

Toastmasters is the best way to improve your communication skills, lose your fears of public speaking and learn skills that will help you become more successful. Join the Toastmasters meetings in the DAI which take place twice a month and include impromptu and prepared speeches as well as evaluations for constructive feedback.

Nuremberg International Children's English group (NICE)
NICE is a private, non-profit, independent group made up of English-speaking families living in the greater Nuremberg area. NICE is more that just a play group for kids. We provide an opportunity to help develop the children's English language skills as well as encourage parents to participate in the learning process. Volunteers are always welcomed to help build our co-op organization.
The younger children make simple crafts, sing, play and listen to stories together, while the older children are provided with native English speaking teachers and an environment where they can make friends, learn to read and write and have fun in English.
