ART & Identity: Louie Gong
DESIGNWORKSHOP with LOUIE GONG: Personalize Your Sneakers!
"I think personalizing the
stuff you put on your body is a meaningful experience that more people should
try." Louie Gong
Donnerstag,
15.März, 14.00 - ca.17.00 Uhr
Louie Gong, a Seattle-based artist and activist, merges contemporary Coast Salish art and Vans to make bold statements about identity. Louie is Nooksack, Squamish, Chinese, French and Scottish. He weaves together humorous stories from his humble upbringing with his experiences as an activist and emerging artist to share his perspective on a range of topics: racial identity, resilience, art, and entrepreneurship. When appropriate, his background as a college instructor compels him to incorporate empirical information and current research in his workshops.
Art and Identity: Custom ShoesThis workshop uses the
process of creating a custom shoe as a platform for exploring personal
identity. It includes technical guidance and one-on-one support for students as
they create their own shoe design and execute the design on a canvas shoe. Rapid
Group Customization, a warm up activity that he developed to ease
insecurity about artistic ability and establish a fun learning environment, is
often the highlight of his Art and Identity workshops.

Dr. Stefan Winter, Filmhochschule Potsdam-Babelsberg, bespricht Verschwörung gegen Amerika von Philip Roth
Was wäre, wenn...?
