Iroquois Prophecies and The Peacemaker
Douglas George Kanentiio, Mohawk -Iroquois Confederacy of the Bear Clan
850 years ago there lived a prophet called the Great Peacemaker who laid the foundation for a democratic society for his people based on the principles guaranteeing human rights to all people. Women enjoyed the highest degree of freedom and the oldest „united nations" was formed, based upon a set of statutes called the Great Law of Peace: The Iroquois Confederacy. Still existing to this day, it is a political and cultural union of six distinct nations with a common language and culture although the Confederacy lost 99% of its territory to the US and Canada. Doug George will present the divine story of the Peacemaker and how the teachings and formation of the Iroquois Confederacy paves the way to prepare for the future. Theirs is a message of peace and spirituality.
