Yesterday's Tomorrows: Sci-Fi Lecture with Douglas Draa

15.07.2009 (19:00)

Veranstaltungsreihe: Back to the Moon - 40 years later

Science fiction is a broad genre of fiction that often involves speculations based on current or future science or technology. Science fiction is largely based on writing entertainingly and rationally about alternate possibilities in settings that are contrary to known reality. A possible setting could be in the future, in alternative time lines, or in a historical past that contradicts known facts of history or the archaeological record. A setting in outer space, on other worlds, or involving aliens is also very popular. The lecture will give a historical overview and focus on famous and well known literature and films of this genre, for instance: A Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, 1984 or A Clockwork Orange.
